Privacy Policy

Once upon a you (“the App,” “we,” “us”) is a personalized children’s story service operated by PurePixel. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions? Email info@purepixel.io.

Who this service is for

Once upon a you is designed for parents and caregivers. An adult creates and controls the account and generates stories for the children in their family. Children do not create accounts, sign in, or interact with the service directly. The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.

Information we collect

• Account information: your email address and a securely hashed password, used to create and access your account.
• Content you provide:the profiles you create to personalize stories — a child’s first name, age range, optional pronouns, and favorite things; family members’ names and relationships; story scenarios you type; and stories you choose to save.
• Usage information: basic, non-identifying records of story generations (for example the count, the chosen mood, the age range, and whether the request came from web or mobile) to understand overall usage and improve the App.
• Technical information: standard server logs needed to operate and secure the service.

Children’s privacy

Because the account holder is a parent or caregiver, any information about a child is provided and controlled by that adult. You decide what to enter, and you can edit or delete a child’s profile — and any saved stories — at any time from within the App. We use children’s first names and interests only to personalize the stories you request. We never require a photo, last name, address, or precise location. If you believe a child has provided us information directly, contact info@purepixel.io and we will delete it.

How we use information

• To create and personalize the stories you request.
• To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the App.
• To respond to your support requests.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to serve third-party advertising.

How stories are generated & service providers

To write a personalized story, the details you include (such as a child’s first name, chosen mood, and favorite things) are sent to an AI text-generation provider that returns the story. We use the following trusted providers to run the service:

• Supabase — account authentication and secure database storage of your profiles and saved stories.
• AI text providers (such as Groq / OpenRouter) — generate story text from the prompt you create. Prompts are used to produce your story and are not used to identify you.
• Vercel — hosting of the web service.

These providers process data only to provide their service to us and are bound by their own security and privacy obligations.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual profiles and saved stories in the App at any time. To delete your entire account and associated data, email info@purepixel.io and we will remove it promptly.

Security

We use industry-standard measures — including encryption in transit and access controls — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and limit access to it.

Your choices & rights

You may access, correct, or delete the information in your account at any time from within the App, or by emailing info@purepixel.io. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information; we honor applicable requests.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App.
